grote_smurf This concept album handles about Captain van der Decken, a VOC captain whose ego was so fat that he ignored the objections of his crew about the coming storm, this with deadly consequences.
It's too easy to spit out a bunch of jokes about "de VOC-mentaliteit", one of the greatest stupidities ever made by a former Dutch Prime Minister so I won't ;-). A masterpiece from the deepest catacombs of abyss!!! Favorite track: ...And the Consequence Macabre.

it's not their best album, for sure.

Frankly speaking,.... their latest album is best.
a rare thing, after Six albums no less..

yet. the chosen atmosphere here cannot be bested for me.

the Sea
the deep dark gnarling depths.
and add a spice of particular memory when I happened upon this particular album. it's done deal.

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork.
